An important step forward in industrial and educational cooperation between Italy and Morocco. These are the premises of the new training project between the Duferco Group and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University of Ben Guerir (UM6P), which has officially kicked off. The focus of this collaboration, which began with the first internships in Genoa, is on renewable energy and green hydrogen, strategic sectors for a sustainable energy transition.
Duferco President Antonio Gozzi recently inaugurated the partnership with a visit to Mohammed VI University, where he delivered a lecture titled” Energy in the Mediterranean: Opportunities and Challenges” to university students. During his speech, Gozzi underscored the Mediterranean’s role as a vital energy hub and highlighted the importance of cooperation between North Africa and Europe.
“I firmly believe that the future lies here, in Africa, a young and dynamic continent, while Europe faces challenges related to demographic aging,” said Antonio Gozzi, President of Duferco. “Industrial cooperation between countries like Morocco and Italy represents a unique opportunity to build synergies that strengthen our economies.“
Launched over a year ago, the project has already yielded its first results, with two recent engineering graduates from UM6P completing internships at Duferco Engineering’s headquarters in Genoa. This pioneering training experience provides young Moroccan talents with hands-on skills in Europe’s second-largest industrial economy.
The first two students are now completing their training, and in the coming months, the program will expand with the arrival of five more young talents, two girls and three boys. They will be employed at three companies within the Group: two at Duferco Engineering, two at Duferco Energia, and one at Duferco Mobility.
“I am convinced that this collaboration can serve as a bridge between our economies and cultures, fostering a dynamic exchange of skills and opportunities. I hope this initiative will extend to young talents from both countries, providing them with valuable professional experiences. Mutual understanding, respect for cultural diversity, and shared ambitions form the foundation upon which we can build a stronger future.” Continued Antonio Gozzi.
This training program, a pioneering initiative for an Italian company, is supported by the Liguria Region and the Moroccan Embassy. It covers food, accommodation, and a monthly allowance for the duration of the internship. The partnership with Mohammed VI University—Morocco’s most prestigious institution, also recognized in the Mattei Plan as a key center for higher education—further underscores Duferco’s innovative approach in fostering synergies between industry and academia.
